Lewis Hamilton earned a reprimand from the FIA after making a mistake on his pit-lane entry during first free practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The incident not only left the world champion slightly red-faced, but also puts him at risk of a potential penalty at Yas Marina.
Hamilton overshot his pit-lane entry and had to put his Mercedes into reverse in order to make it in for a service from the Silver Arrows' crew.
It is Hamilton's second driving reprimand of 2018 – if he picks up another in FP3 or qualifying, he will serve a 10-place grid penalty at the Yas Marina Circuit.
His first reprimand was picked up in similar circumstances at this year's German Grand Prix.
Hamilton made a last-gasp decision to stay out at the German GP amid massive confusion over team radio from his race engineer Pete Bonington.
That move helped Hamilton take victory at Hockenheim, but a reprimand was deemed to be punishment enough.
