'Kubica seals Williams seat with €10m backing'

Robert Kubica has reportedly secured a €10million sponsorship package which will confirm his spot on the 2019 Formula 1 grid with Williams. Autosport has reported that Kubica has accepted a 2019 race deal with Williams, while RMF has claimed that he will bring a financial package to Grove with him.

It was reported in Kubica's native Poland earlier this week that he had signed a 2019 deal with Williams, having served as the team's test and reserve driver this season.

Kubica was overlooked in favour of Sergey Sirotkin, but the Russian's struggles have seen Williams look elsewhere.

A return to the grid would complete a remarkable journey for Kubica, who has not raced in Formula 1 since suffering life-altering arm injuries in a rally crash in 2011.

His last race remains the 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but 2018's trip to the Yas Marina Circuit appears set to complete the circle.

Kubica will partner Mercedes junior driver George Russell in 2019, with Williams claiming t have moved away from a financial-centred decision-making, however it is reported that Kubica will arrive with significant monetary backing.

Oil and petrol company PKN Orlen will reportedly put €10m behind Kubica in sponsorship, which will aid a flagging Williams team.

Williams have lost title sponsor Martini for 2019 and Lance Stroll following his father Lawrence to Force India will take further backing away from the team.

According to RMF, the Orlen deal will be the largest of its kind ever seen in Poland.
