Hamilton explains Sky Sports pundit rant

Lewis Hamilton has explained his reasoning for criticising television pundits over their coverage of his German Grand Prix victory last weekend. Hamilton said that Sky Sports' commentators could not "find a good word to say" as he fought from 14th on the grid to win at Hockenheim.

A swiftly deleted post from Hamilton as he reattached his victory read: "I never get to watch the races but just got home and watching Sky.

"I find it amazing listening to the ex-drivers commentating, not a single one of them could find a good word to say. Whatever the reason is, it's OK, I forgive you. Positivity and love wins always and no matter what words you use to try and undermine me, I started 14th today and finished 1st. God is good all the time."

World champion Damon Hill and former F1 racer Martin Brundle are among the high-profile analysts employed by Sky and Hamilton did not feel as though his efforts went properly explained as he carved his way through the field to put enough pressure on Sebastian Vettel to perhaps have an impact on his costly error.

"I had just re-watched a race that felt so great in my heart, but there were certain things that weren't perceived that way, certain things that were missed," Hamilton said.

"It wasn't being explained properly, the difference I was making, the different lines that I would choose.

"As we had former racing drivers commentating, I would have thought that they'd pick those things out, but they didn't."

Brundle actually compared Hamilton to Ayrton Senna during his drive and the Mercedes man said he took down his post once the compliments started flowing.

"I took down the Instagram post because I wrote it during the race [replay] and there were some good comments from some of the drivers afterwards," said Hamilton.

"They have a tough job to report on what is going on, so I respect that."
