F1 2025 Japanese Grand Prix weather forecast - Rain forecast for Sunday's race

After a two week break, Formula 1 returns to the iconic Suzuka Circuit for the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix.

McLaren continued their winning streak last time out in China, with Oscar Piastri claiming his first win of the season ahead of team-mate Lando Norris.

F1 Results Today: Chaos at Japanese Grand Prix as four red flags overshadow McLaren dominance

However, it was Ferrari who stole the headlines in Shanghai after both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix for different infringements.

Excessive wear was found on the plank underneath Hamilton's Ferrari, whilst Leclerc's SF-25 was found to be underweight after routine FIA checks.

Yuki Tsunoda will also make his debut with Red Bull at the Japanese GP, after it was announced he would be replacing Liam Lawson during the break between the two races.

Will Ferrari be able to bounce back in Japan? Or will McLaren further their dominance during this weekend's grand prix? Here is the all important weather forecast ahead of the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix!

Japanese Grand Prix weather forecast

Sunday, April 6: Race

Lights out for the Japanese Grand Prix is at 2pm (local time), but despite being regarded as the hottest day of the weekend at around 18 degrees Celsius, it could also be the wettest with rain forecast on Sunday, most likely in bursts of showers.

The morning is expected to be very wet, potentially leading to a wet track for the start of the race, and then as the race goes on, more rain could hit the circuit, with a 49 per cent chance of precipitation forecast for much of the race.

With intermittent, sunny spells forecast for in between the rain showers, strategy will be key with likely wet to dry to wet conditions being present, judging by the weather forecast.

Wind speeds will have dropped to about 11km/h, and this mixed with the rain will hopefully mean that there will not be a repeat of the grass fires around the track that have hampered the first two days of action.
