FIA announce penalty verdict for F1 star after Abu Dhabi Grand Prix investigation

The FIA have announced a penalty verdict for Formula 1 star Kevin Magnussen after he was investigated for a pitlane incident just moments before the start of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Dane was noted for a practice start in the pitlane, witnessed by the RB of Liam Lawson.

Lawson reported the incident to his team, and Magnussen has since been placed under investigation by the stewards.

Magnussen risks FIA penalty at Abu Dhabi GP

If Magnussen was to be penalised for the incident, it would have come as a major blow to the driver during his final race weekend in F1, with the Haas star unable to obtain a drive for 2025.

The stewards, however, have now cleared Magnussen of any wrongdoing, stating: "Car 20 pulled away from the pit exit light to start the reconnaissance laps after the pit exit light went green.

"Whilst the driver did rev the engine for a fraction of a second before pulling away, the Stewards do not consider this to be a practice start."
