Family of Dilano Van 't Hoff thank Norris for emotional tribute gift

The family of Dilano van ’t Hoff have thanked McLaren driver Lando Norris for a ‘beautiful gesture’ after he gifted them his helmet.

Van ’t Hoff tragically died at Spa-Francorchamps – where the Belgian Grand Prix is being held this weekend – after a crash during a Formula Regional European Championship race earlier this month.

The 18-year-old Dutch driver was a casualty of a multiple-car accident during a wet race, after a restart.

On what would have been the young driver’s 19th birthday yesterday, Van ’t Hoff’s family posted a photograph on Instagram with a helmet from Norris, with the caption: “Thank you @landonorris for this beautiful gesture. Means a lot. #racingfordilano.”

Other drivers also paid respects to Van ’t Hoff, as well as Anthoine Hubert, who was killed four years ago in similar circumstances at Spa.

Pierre Gasly posted photographs on Instagram of a moment of silence held for the drivers on the track, where some, including Gasly, laid flowers to commemorate them.

Gasly, as well as his Alpine team-mate Esteban Ocon, wore clothing emblazoned with the slogan ‘Racing for Anthoine’.
