Ferrari "just too slow at the moment" - Leclerc

Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel have again bemoaned the lack of pace of their 2020 Ferrari Formula 1 car following another testing qualifying session.

Echoing the qualifying attempt of Vettel seven days ago ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Leclerc failed to escape Q2 for this weekend's Styrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, and will start the race from 11th, a place behind his team-mate.

"Unfortunately, we had the rain when we went on the second set [of extreme tyres], but anyway I think the main problem today, we were just not quick enough," Leclerc told Sky Sports F1.

"There was not much to do, we were 1.8 [seconds] off, and however we look at it, we are just too slow at the moment, so we need to work."

Vettel, who scraped into Q3 by 0.083s from Leclerc, was also left shaking his head with regard to the lack of pace from the SF1000.

"It was a difficult session for us," Vettel told Sky Sports Italia. "We struggled to get the tyres to work, now we need to have a good look and see why.

"I had lots of aquaplaning, in particular at the end of Q2 and the first run in Q3 as well, so not ideal.

"But we get to make sure we learn the maximum we can from this session and take it into the next wet session.

"Tomorrow [for the race] should be dry so it's a bit different, so we fight and try everything we can tomorrow."
