Ferrari will do whatever it takes to have a 2020 season, says Binotto

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto has said that Ferrari will do whatever it takes to ensure that the 2020 Formula 1 season takes place.

Liberty Media have repeatedly explained that they need complete flexibility from the teams as they attempt to rescue a race calendar from the global coronavirus pandemic, and Binotto has echoed these calls.

"We know that from a sporting regulations, first to have a world championship you need at least eight races, but I think that everyone is trying to look for more than that," said Binotto.

"I think what will be important for us is really to be flexible.

"I'm pretty sure that Chase [Carey - Formula 1 CEO] and the team will be capable of putting in place the best championship we can have. So I think that from our side it is really whatever is needed.

Various suggestions on what the championship calendar could look like have been made, and Binotto is open to trying out new weekend formats if this would aid in the production of a calendar.

The Ferrari boss continued, "Short race weekend, double race, whenever it will finish, backing all of the races together - whatever it will be, it is important to be flexible, and make sure that we can have good races as well for the fans."
