FORMULA E: Mexico E Prix Qualifying

Andre Lotterer claimed Porsche's first pole position this season in the Mexico E Prix with Mitch Evans taking second and Mercedes' Nyck De Vries taking third.

Evans set the standard at the start of qualifiers with an impressive 1:08.174 lap and was in good contention for pole until a poor last corner gifted Lotterer pole position.

Going in the last corner with four tenths of a second ahead before then crossing the line sixth tenths of a second with the Jaguar driver explain that understeer had caused the issue.

“I started picking up understeer and I wouldn’t recover so that hurts a little but we are still in the hunt and hopefully we can redeem ourselves.”

Championship contender and BMW driver Alexander Sims had a qualifier to forget after a poor run in group one which has ended him down in 20th on the grid.

Sims could not hide his disappointment; “Very likely that we will be reasonably far down but to be honest lest than ideal.”

Meanwhile the 18/19 Championship winner Jean-Éric Vergne just missed out on getting into a chance for super pole whilst Brazilian teammate Antonio Félix Da Costa will start just behind him in 10th.

De Vires teammate and Championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne also struggled and will be further down the grid than he would want to be.
