Technical Director Pat Fry returns to Enstone

Renault confirm that Pat Fry will take up his new position as Technical Director (Chassis) on February 5.

Fry, who has previously held posts at Benetton, Ferrari and Manor, left McLaren at the end of 2020, his second stint with the team, to join Renault. The 55-year-old had been working with McLaren most recently as a temporary engineering director while the team waited for James Key, who was joining the team from Toro Rosso, served his gardening leave period between jobs.

Fry first worked in Formula One with Benetton in 1987. Woking in the R&D department of the team initially, Fry was appointed as Race Engineer for Martin Brundle in 1992.

Now, 18 years after leaving the team, Fry returns to the Enstone based team where his journey began, filling the boots of Nick Chester, who himself had been with the team through it's different guises for 19-years.

It has also been confirmed that Fry will make his first public appearance for the team on February 12 when Renault launch their car in Paris.
