Norris: Nothing came as a shock in F1

Lando Norris insists he was so well prepared ahead of making his Formula 1 debut that nothing that happened throughout the course of the season came as a shock or surprise.

After finishing second in the F2 championship, Norris was recruited by McLaren for their new-look driving line-up alongside Carlos Sainz after Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne left after the conclusion of the 2018 campaign.

The duo have been very impressive, with their results establishing McLaren as the ‘best of the rest’ team behind the elite trio of Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull.

Norris has taken to F1 like a duck to water, and part of the reason for this is because nothing seems to faze him.

"A lot of people asked me 'What shocked you the most?'. But there's been nothing," Norris stated.

"I think it's a good thing, that there's been nothing. Nothing has caught me by surprise.

“I think the team and the amount of preparation I did last year during the winter, in the factory, I did so many things preparing with the rules, the strategies, everything.

"There have been a lot of things that have been very difficult, but nothing which has caught me by surprise or made me make a big mistake or anything."

In his maiden F1 season, Norris finished 11th in the drivers’ championship after earning 49 points. His best results were in Bahrain and Austria where he finished sixth.
