Mexican Grand Prix: Driver Ratings

Ferrari entered the Mexican Grand Prix as favourites, then Max Verstappen took pole position, only for the Scuderia to inherit a front-row lockout, but the end result was one we've seen so many times: Lewis Hamilton victorious.

The five-time world champion is not quite a six-time title-winner yet, but is now just four points away with three races left to go after winning in Mexico for the second time in his career.

Mercedes' 100th win as an F1 constructor came through the issues of their rivals - a familiar theme in 2019.

Matt Scott has run the rule over all 20 drivers in action. Let us know if you agree, or not, with the scores on Facebook and Twitter!

Lando Norris (Qual: 8th - Race: DNF) 7/10

How's your luck?! Norris made a strong start and was running seventh until he pitted… and McLaren failed to secure a wheel. After being wheeled back down the pit lane, the 19-year-old got going again, but was running stone last and was called in to prevent any damage.

Kimi Raikkonen (Qual: 14th - Race: DNF) 4/10

Another anonymous weekend for Kimi, who dropped a number of places at the start and did little until he was called in to retire.

Robert Kubica (Qual: 20th - Race: 18th) 5/10

Kubica and team-mate George Russell got a bit feisty and it was the Pole who ultimately came out on top of their racing until a puncture left him behind the rookie at the chequered flag once again.

Romain Grosjean (Qual: 18th - Race: 17th) 3/10

Dropped to last place with a sluggish getaway and could not even make the bare minimum progress back past both Williams cars in the race.

George Russell (Qual: 18th - Race: 16th) 5/10

A smart launch saw Russell pick up a number of places through the first few corners, but he had lost most of them before cutting the beam for lap two and the remainder of the race played out in familiar, disappointing circumstances.

Kevin Magnussen (Qual: 17th - Race: 15th) 4/10

This is a track that Haas have never enjoyed and Magnussen was, much like Grosjean, simply unable to make any kind of impression on the race.

Antonio Giovinazzi (Qual: 15th - Race: 14th) 5/10

Another driver who had a botched pit-stop to thank for losing a number of places during his race.

Carlos Sainz (Qual: 7th - Race: 13th) 7/10

Sainz was P4 after the first lap and looked on for yet another chunky set of points, but a disastrous second stint on the hard tyre aw the Spaniard tumble way down the order and he is back behind Pierre Gasly in a fight for sixth place in the championship that has Alexander Albon making huge strides in.

Lance Stroll (Qual 16th - Race: 12th) 5/10

A Stroll special off the line gained a few places, but the Canadian could not get anything else out of a one-stopper.

Daniil Kvyat (Qual: 9th - Race: 11th) 4/10

Kvyat finished in the top 10 but was penalised for a last-lap collision with Hulkenberg as he chased points. The 10-second penalty dropped the Russian out of the points entirely.
