Max Verstappen has reiterated that he doesn’t care who his partner will be for Red Bull in the 2020 Formula 1 season, as long as they can work together to take down their rivals.
The Dutchman has had two team-mates this season - Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon - and it will be between these two drivers as to who will take the second Red Bull seat next year.
Verstappen doesn’t have a preference as to who it will be, though, as he has history with both.
“I don’t care,” he responded when asked by Verstappen.nl who he wants Red Bull to choose.
“I’ve always had a good relationship with Pierre so it’s a shame he had to go back to Toro Rosso.
“I also get on well with Albon. All three of us have known each other from karting when we raced each other in 2010. So I don’t mind who my team-mate will be.”
For the 22-year-old, he just wants a team-mate who will motivate him to maximise his own performances.

“That’s both the best for the team and myself. If someone pushes me, I’ll drive faster. You have to work together to achieve the best result. But you always want to beat your team-mate, of course.”
Red Bull have won the last two races in Mexico which is the location of the event after this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, but Verstappen has doubts they can repeat the feat for a third time due to Ferrari’s current form.
“You’d think so as we’ve won the last two,” he said when asked about Red Bull’s chances in Mexico.
“But this year will be more difficult because Ferrari is so fast on the straights. I don’t think it’ll be the same as other years.”
