Hulkenberg: I'll get another race seat

Nico Hulkenberg is confident that he will be on the Formula 1 grid in 2020, despite being dropped by Renault.

Renault announced they would not be renewing the German’s deal for next season ahead of the Belgian GP, with Esteban Ocon coming in to replace him.

Hulkenberg appears to have taken the news in his stride, and has scored points in both races since, including a fine fifth-placed finish in Italy last time out, matching his best result for the French team.

Haas are considering an offer to replace Romain Grosjean, although Hulkenberg has also been mentioned as an outside candidate for Red Bull in 2020, leaving the German confident that his future remains in F1.

“There’s nothing signed currently, but my team and I are working on it,” he told German broadcaster n-tv.

“There is definitely interest and options that we are working on, there are negotiations and talks, but nothing concrete has been decided yet.

“But if I want, I’ll get another race seat.”

Should the Haas move happen, Hulkenberg will be teaming with Kevin Magnussen who he has had several run-ins with in the past.

Indeed, after one occasion when Hulkenberg questioned an unsportsmanlike move from Magnussen, the Dane infamously responded with the phrase “suck my balls”.
