Leclerc anticipating huge support in Monza

Charles Leclerc is excited to return to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, as he is expecting huge support from the fans for himself and Ferrari after his maiden F1 victory in Belgium.

Last season, the Monegasque performed at Monza with Sauber and witnessed plenty of fanfare due to his status as a Ferrari development driver.

Now, as he establishes himself as the future of the team, especially after winning at Spa, he knows the partisan Italian Ferrari fans will be cheering raucously again.

"Last year, coming to Monza was one of the best experiences in my life," said Leclerc.

"The support I had even though I was not a Ferrari driver was unbelievable so I can't imagine now.

"I just won my first race in F1, so I'm pretty sure the welcome will be great.

"It was last year but probably even more now: firstly driving for Ferrari and secondly because I just had my first win in F1.

"I'm really looking forward to arriving in Italy."

Leclerc’s victory in Belgium was Ferrari’s first win this season as the Scuderia trail Mercedes by some distance in the constructors’ championship.
