Max Verstappen will start a Formula 1 race from P1 for the very first time at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The Dutchman became the 100th different pole-sitter in F1, as well as securing Honda's first pole since Australia 2006, with a stunning effort which demolished the lap record at the Hungaroring.

Joining Verstappen on the front row is Valtteri Bottas, with Lewis Hamilton in third behind the two drivers closest to him in the drivers' standings.

Ferrari will hope their strength in sector one can help them off the line, with Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel fourth and fifth respectively.

Antonio Giovinazzi was dropped three places from 14th for blocking Lance Stroll in Q1, elevating Kevin Magnussen, Sergio Perez and George Russell, who delivered Williams' finest performance in qualifying of 2019 so far.

Daniel Ricciardo was a surprise departure in Q1, prompting Renault to fit hi with a new power unit in order to lessen the impact further down the season. The Australian drops from P18 to last place.
