Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko believes Sebastian Vettel must leave Ferrari and change teams for the sake of his career.
The German is a four-time world champion in Formula 1 and is viewed as one of the most talented drivers ever, but all of his titles came during a successful period with Red Bull. He has not been victorious since his move to Ferrari, where things have took a turn for the worst for him in 2019.
After 10 races this season, he is yet to win a GP and is fourth in the drivers’ championship - a huge 100 points adrift of leader, Lewis Hamilton.
After another abject showing at the British GP which saw him finish 16th after crashing into Max Verstappen, he was heavily criticised by the partisan Italian media, who are influential with Ferrari.
Marko reckons Vettel must change his surroundings in order to cut out the errors.
“You make mistakes when you are no longer sure of yourself,” he explained to Auto Bild.
“It happens in the subconscious.
“Sebastian would have to be in a different environment. In order words, change the team. But I see no way for 2020.”
