Dutch media claims Verstappen doesn't use Gasly's data

Dutch F1 journalist Erik van Haren has claimed that Pierre Gasly's poor performance for Red Bull so far in 2019 has resulted in team-mate Max Verstappen opting not to use the data he has gathered from races, as it perhaps differs so much from his own.

Gasly's promotion to Red Bull came ahead of schedule, according to team principal Christian Horner, something that seems all the more apparent after three races.

The Frenchman has scored points just once, last time out in China, and has qualified on average over a second adrift of the Dutchman, who has followed up his season-opening podium in Australia with fourth-place finishes in Bahrain and China.

With Gasly recently suggesting his driving style was too aggressive for the RB15, it is suggested he tried to drive with Verstappen's set-up in Shanghai, but the result was no different.

De Telegraaf's Van Haren said: "Red Bull don't want the qualifying battle to finish 21-0 between Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly.

"In China, Gasly took some time in the Verstappen car to see what it felt like. Not on the circuit but in the garage.

"He used the same setup in qualifying and then he was behind by a second. That's a bad sign.

"I've heard that Verstappen doesn't even use data from Gasly any more, although you can still help each other as teammates."
