Max Verstappen and teammate Rudy van Buren won the Eight Hours of Silverstone with Team Redline. Verstappen used a weekend without a Formula 1 race to keep himself sharp with a contest in the simulator. Verstappen and Van Buren were too fast for everyone in the Oreca LMP2.
The online race was held on the rFactor 2 simulation game, with Verstappen fans able to tune in live via a stream on YouTube.
Team Redline also includes McLaren driver Lando Norris. The 19-year-old has teamed up together with Verstappen a number of times. The two young drivers form a good team according to Norris.
He told Motorsport.com: "We understand each other fairly well, because we spend a lot of time doing the same things, which is fun. We speak the same language, the language of racing.
"[Other] people like it, of course, that they can say that they've defeated a Formula 1 driver. So you get people to love you and most of the time it's a lot of fun, but sometimes there's someone in between who is just annoying and gets in the way all the time while trying to do a qualifying round."
One such annoyance recently prompted Verstappen to run a rival off the road, prompting a backlash from the online racing community, but Norris tells a different side to the story.
